BSS combines skills to secure international deals

DEVON/WALES: BSS Industrial branches are fighting the recession by thinking outside the box to secure new international contacts.

By combining the skills available at each branch they are now supplying tube and fittings to Kazakhstan-based Datoba Construction.

The company’s Plymouth branch of the supplier of pipeline and heating solutions was approached by a customer of 15 years to tender for work on a new factory and port development in Kazakhstan.

The branch would have been unable to supply and specify such a large amount of product alone, but by partnering with its counterpart in Swansea the company has now secured the large export account.

Thanks to the expertise of Wayne Lemon, a senior sales representative based at BSS Industrial Swansea, the input of Swansea branch manager Dai Simons and the strong relationship between Plymouth manager Simon Baker and customer Terry Sampson, the first shipment of products is now heading to Kazakhstan.

Mr Baker said: "We realised the strength of both of our teams and reconnecting with our old contact in Kazakhstan was an opportunity not to be missed.

“We will be supplying 1.5km of iron pipe. That is approximately seven lorry loads.

“This is in addition to our own-brand BOSS radiators, tubes, fittings, tools and 800 metres of pre-insulated pipework.

“We are now looking forward to a bright future working with Terry and a team visit to Kazakhstan to see the site for ourselves."
