OBAS Group’s chief executive officer Norman Tenray has become the president of the North & Western Lancashire Chamber of Commerce, at its 98th Annual General Meeting on 22 September 2014.

While also being a non-executive director, Mr Tenray has served as vice president of the North & Western Lancashire Chamber of Commerce for two years, taking on the position of president after a unanimous vote from his peers.

Originally from Hampshire, Mr Tenray has been part of the North West’s business community since 2008, following the acquisition and merger of four businesses to create construction supply company OBAS UK.

“I am absolutely thrilled and honoured to take up the position of president of the North & Western Lancashire Chamber of Commerce and I’m looking forward to representing the chamber and making sure the membership has a voice, as well as advancing the interests of the business community more generally,” said Mr Tenray.

He replaces Malcolm Clarke, who acted as president for two years. Commenting on his predecessor’s tenure, Mr Tenray said: “I’ve got big shoes to fill. We’ve traded through difficult times whilst Malcolm held office and I’m acutely aware of the good job he’s done and hope I can live up to the high standard he’s set.”

Babs Murphy, chief executive of the Chamber, said: “Norman is an exceptional choice for president of North & Western Lancashire Chamber of Commerce. He commands the respect of his peers and his views are widely sought and highly respected.

“During his time as vice president, Norman has been a prolific advocate for the business community while maintaining a successful national business and I’m confident we can expect great things during his term in office.”
