The National Builders’ Merchants Buying Society (NMBS) has asked MRA Marketing’s Mike Rigby to give a presentation on marketing and branding at the industry at the Conference next week (19 to 22 June).

The Conference, held at the five-star Gran Melia hotel in Tenerife, focuses on branding and also features talks by branding, business and motivational experts, as well as a series of master classes to help merchants build their businesses.

“Merchants face a unique set of problems in branding within the industry,” explained Mr Rigby. “Traditionally they have focused on the practical side of breaking loads and supplying products; it’s intrinsically harder to market a range of products than just one, and B2B markets are more complicated than consumer markets. And construction is more complicated and difficult to market to than most other B2B markets!

“But whoever – and wherever – you are in the supply chain, you need to build your brand to build your market.”
