The Builders Merchants Federation (BMF) has announced its final speakers for the BMF Members Day in September, who will offer advice on how to perform under pressure.

Wellness experts Dr Dorian Dugmore and John Sunderland-Wright will preview the results of a series of "performing under pressure" tests carried out on the BMW Buildbase Super Bike Team, for a TV documentary featuring the team at work.

A series of detailed tests on the riders and pit lane crew, first under laboratory conditions and then during the build up to race weekend and the actual races, produced a real-time insight into the impact of the pressures involved both physically and mentally in performing at the top in motor sport.

Dr Dorian Dugmore explained: "By testing the riders and their management crew we see the impact of their decision-making under pressure, on the team and its results. Lessons learned here can be applied by anyone, no matter what their day job."

Delegates to last summer's industry conference will know why Dr Dugmore is one of the most sought after speakers on the subject of wellness, particularly the impact of executive wellness on their performance. John Sunderland-Wright is an expert in performance improvement. He has worked with professional and elite athletes helping them reach peak performance in competition by teaching them to control their physiological and emotional responses to pressure.

BMF managing director John Newcomb added: "This is a real coup for the BMF. Due to our relationship with Dr Dugmore, BMF Members' Day delegates will be the first to hear publicly some of the headline results of this fascinating study and view behind the scenes video footage shot for the Eurosport documentary. And, with Members Day taking place next door to Silverstone, the home of British Super Bike racing, we will not only have one of the BMW Buildbase Super Bikes on display, we also have bike simulators where members can find out what it's like to ride one at 100mph or more.”

BMF Members Day takes place over two days – 16 and 17 September – and once again will use the excellent facilities at Whittlebury Hall in Northamptonshire. The theme for this year's event is "Accelerating Growth" and it is supported by headline sponsor, ACO Academy.
