JCB has joined the Builders Merchants Federation (BMF), becoming its 450th member.

The company was welcomed by BMF managing director John Newcomb, who briefly worked with JCB early in his career.

“I am delighted to welcome one of the UK’s most iconic construction brands to the BMF,” said Mr Newcomb. “They demonstrate that a family business can succeed in a global market and lead their field in investment and innovation, and have much to offer our community. I look forward to working with them.”

JCB employs more than 11,000 people worldwide and manufactures more than 300 different machines for the construction, agricultural and industrial markets. Last year, it celebrated the production of its one millionth machine.

Nicola Bagworth, general manager of JCB Industrial, said: “We are very pleased to be joining the BMF and it is quite a landmark to be the 450th member. The BMF has drawn together the merchant supply chain to ensure their interests are represented and we are looking forward to being part of that Federation.”
