Rental equipment and integrated services provider Speedy, has launched a new 24/7 ‘In Case of Emergency’ (ICE) number to help the utilities sector avoid costly delays and disruption this winter.

Long dark nights, flooding, freezing temperatures and heavy snow can all pose serious problems for utility organisations including frozen pipes, damaged machinery and reduced access to site, potentially costing thousands of pounds per week in downtime.

The ICE number connects to the ‘Speedy Response’ service, which has dealt with thousands of emergency calls since it was launched in December last year. It provides equipment and support for Speedy’s entire product range as well as on-call expert engineers.

Mike Heafield, market director for infrastructure fixed assets at Speedy, said: “The harsh winters that we have been experiencing in recent years have posed serious problems for the utilities sector.

“The Speedy Response service has provided thousands of clients with access to on-call engineers, nationwide breakdown cover, and a telephone assistance service for almost 12 months now, which has helped minimise disruption to businesses.

“As the winter once again draws in we can support people that work through the night and during the Christmas holidays to help prevent minor problems escalating into major disasters.

“Our extensive range of temporary power, lighting, heating, drying and dehumidifying solutions and frozen pipe equipment, will allow the utilities sector to operate as effectively and safely as possible this winter.”

The new ICE number, which is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year is 0845 6099 999.
