Construction firms from the London Borough of Southwark are being offered the chance to win work on Lend Lease’s £1.5bn Elephant & Castle regeneration, at a Supplier Engagement Day on 17 October 2013.

The free event at the Imperial War Museum - hosted by Constructionline, the government-owned database of contractors – will allow Southwark contractors, suppliers and tradespeople to find out about job opportunities with Lend Lease, the integrated property and infrastructure group.

Lend Lease is seeking contractors to support its regeneration of Elephant & Castle, in partnership with Southwark Council. Spanning 15 years, the project will include the development of almost 3,000 new homes, shops and restaurants, as well as parks and community spaces.

Amanda Reynolds, business development manager from Constructionline, said: “It can be challenging for local construction companies to get involved in larger projects. For this reason, it is great to see Lend Lease sourcing local subcontractors, suppliers and tradespeople on such a high profile scheme and supporting the local economy.

“Hosting events like this which bring local suppliers together with clients is at the heart of what we do – we want to help them find and secure work and also make it easier for businesses to find reliable and local construction companies.”

Lend Lease’s Nigel McKay, head of procurement for development, said: “The scheme is one of the largest remaining regenerations in Zone 1. We’re keen to work with local contractors, giving them the opportunity to secure work right on their doorstep and be a part of what is set to be a prolific transformation.”

The event will run from 9am-1pm and registration is advised to avoid disappointment.
