Tradesmen across the UK can soon take advantage of a new government-backed scheme aimed at securing affordable heating to energy-poor homes.

The initiative, named ‘Feel the benefit’, will see free iQE energy-efficient boilers – available exclusively from building supplier TradePoint – installed in the run up to the cold snap, with tradesmen receiving £700 for the job. The iQE boilers being fitted all come with a standard 10-year parts and labour warranty.

With over 2.5m households certified as ‘energy poor’ in the UK and Northern Ireland, tradesmen can take advantage of this scheme if their customers tick one of the following boxes:

  • They live in a privately owned or rented property
  • Their boiler is broken or not working properly
  • They have electric or solid fuel heating and a working mains gas supply and they are in receipt of one or more of the following benefits: state pension credit; income-related benefits; with a child and an income of less than £15,860; disability benefits with an income of less than £15,860.

Tradesmen can also sign up to awareness sessions, which are being facilitated at a number of TradePoint counters this month across the UK. All tradesmen must be Gas Safe Registered, VAT Registered and be either PAS2030 or Green Deal Installer certified to take part.

“We’re here to help tradesmen warm up Britain this winter,” said TradePoint marketing manager Trevor Culpin. “The ‘Feel the benefit’ scheme benefits both customers and our tradesmen.”

Tradesmen interested in learning more about the scheme are encouraged to contact their local TradePoint counter or visit www.trade-point.co.uk.
