Anglesey-based building materials company Huws Gray has added two new branches to its portfolio this August.
Following a hectic 2012 which saw five acquisitions and the opening of two brownfield sites, Huws Gray has acquired a branch in Derbyshire as well as increased its presence in Denbighshire, now giving the company 42 trading locations.
Terry Owen, managing director of Huws Gray, said: “After bringing seven new branches into the fold in the first seven months of 2012, we have been busy in 2013 with the renovation of our Wrexham branch and relocation to a much larger site in Llanidloes (mid Wales). However, we are extremely delighted to hit the acquisition trail again this summer, and are confident that we will be in a position to make further announcements shortly.”
On August 6, Huws Gray acquired J. F. Beale – a family business with over 30 years’ experience in providing building and landscaping supplies on Alfreton Road in Derby.
Mr Owen said: “We opened a branch in Stoke-on-Trent less than 15 months ago, which has proved very successful. That branch in Blythe Bridge meant that Derby became a far more feasible option for Huws Gray as we looked to grow.
“We are keen to ensure that Huws Gray maintains the excellent reputation that J. F. Beale has rightly earned, as well as working alongside the current team there to further develop opportunities within the branch.”
Huws Gray has also acquired a property on Lon Parcwr Industrial Estate in Ruthin. Following a substantial investment in renovating the site, it will officially open on September 1 and will provide six new full-time jobs.
According to John Llewelyn Jones, chairman of Huws Gray, Ruthin is an ideal location for the company, as he said: “Following on from the opening of our Rhuddlan site in March 2011, we are very excited about adding a second branch in Denbighshire. We strongly believe that Ruthin provides the perfect strategic location between our existing branches in Dolgellau and Wrexham.”
