DUNDEE: Police have arrested a 35-year-old man following a serious assault that left an employee of a B&Q outlet in hospital.

The victim, a 40-year-old staff member at the DIY store in the city's Milton of Craigie Road, was attacked inside the store.

The incident, which took place at around 8pm on Friday, left the man in a serious but stable condition in Ninewells Hospital.

A 35-year-old is in police custody in connection with the assault and is expected to appear at Dundee Sheriff Court today.

The section of the store in which the incident occurred has been cordoned to allow a forensic examination of the scene to take place.

A man has appeared in court charged with attempted murder following an incident in DIY retailer B&Q that left a member of staff in hospital.

The alleged attack happened in the Dundee store on January 6.

Brian Coventry, 35, was charged with attempted murder when he appeared at Dundee Sheriff Court. He was also charged with carrying a knife, attempting to pervert the course of justice and threatening or abusive behaviour.

Mr Coventry, from Dundee, made no plea or declaration and was remanded in custody.
