SWEDEN: Timber producer, SCA is cutting production of standard grade sawn timber for two weeks because of excess production.

Production of value-added wood products, components and finished products would continue as planned.

Sawn timber output in Northern Europe had increased more than demand during the latter part of 2010 and curtailment around Christmas and New Year is designed to avoid a build-up of stocks, it said.

Jonas MÃ¥rtensson, SCA Timber president said: "Our production of, for example, window components, IKEA shelving and value-added products for the builders merchant sector will continue as planned." "These are products and markets with a stable demand, unaffected by short-term fluctuations in the wood products market."
