WALES: From 1 July, the former UniBond League will become the Evo-Stik League in a move that will see the company take over from its direct competitor. Evo-Stik has signed an initial three-year sponsorship deal with the Northern Premier Football League.

The league encompasses 3000 players, within 65 clubs, covering an area that houses almost 40% of the country's population, so exposure for the Evo-Stik brand and its products will be extensive."

The Northern Premier League delivers 4.6 billion brand exposure opportunities each season with some 18.3 million people reached by the league in print, on the radio or TV, through the internet or in person on match days.

Evo-Stik is planning a number of club and wider community initiatives within the sponsorship as well as a full supporting PR programme and on-pack promotions. English football legend, Geoff Hurst, attended the national press conference at Lilleshall National Sports Centre to lend his support to the sponsorship.

"Everyone knows the major money is in the Premiership, so it is great to see a company seeing the bigger picture and investing beyond that - I cannot praise Evo-Stik enough for that," Sir Geoff stated.

As part of a wider strategy, the deal will see Evo-Stik enhance the future of non-league football in the North and Midlands with increased funding and a greater focus on club development.

Said Chris Alderson, director of Bostik UK: "Football sponsorship is new territory for us as a business and demonstrates further substantial investment in the Evo-Stik brand."
