Dulux Academy has been announced as the winner of the On The Tools Training Excellence Award for the second year running.

The home of painting and decorating excellence, which celebrated its third birthday earlier this year, was recognised for the prestigious award at a ceremony on Friday 15th November.

A panel of judges, all experts in the construction industry, selected Dulux Academy as a worthy winner after being impressed with its ongoing commitment to furthering the skills and championing professional decorators around the UK.

The awards, which celebrate and reward construction workers, sub-contractors, tools and equipment manufacturers and construction companies from across the UK, were held at Edgbaston Cricket Ground, Birmingham.

Vickie Mather, Dulux Academy Lead, said: “Winning this award means so much to the team at the Academy. We love what we do and every day we have the opportunity to help new and experienced decorators to grow their business by learning new application techniques and wider business skills at our purpose built Slough training centre and at partner colleges up and down the country.

“There is a shortage of painters and decorators in the UK and the Dulux Academy works to encourage people into the trade and develop the skills and techniques of those more established to keep up to date with industry developments.

“It was also great to share the stage with Gary Marsh, a Dulux Select Decorator, who was nominated and voted for by the public audience as 2019 Painter & Decorator of the Year.”

Dulux Academy has a range of courses on offer, from product, application and innovation, to colour and design, and business management all designed to help trade professionals realise their personal and professional ambitions.

In the last three years, more than 6,500 course attendees have been through the doors - training at the flagship Dulux Academy in Slough or at one of our 10 partner colleges across the UK.

The On The Tools awards, hosted by comedian Justin Moorhouse and held at the Edgbaston Cricket Ground in Birmingham, handed out a total of 26 awards.

The 2019 winners were announced at a lavish gala dinner following a drinks reception and three course meal.
