Software Sales Manager

Our client is a is a leading developer and supplier of advanced data and software, to a range of distributive and service businesses. They specialise in providing business management solutions to merchants, wholesalers and retailers, particularly those operating in the building trades and the automotive aftermarket.

Reporting to the Sales Director, we are looking for a Software Sales Manager with a good understanding of business. Your role will be to promote and sell our clients products and services to merchants (builders, plumbers, tools and so on), as well as promoting their existing business into the automotive aftermarket. You will be required to provide demonstrations of the software to prospects, and to assist existing customers where required.

Suitable applicants MUST have:

• Sales experience in a trading environment e.g. with a builder’s merchant (or similar); automotive aftermarket experience would be a bonus;

• Excellent IT skills, with experience of selling business management software into these markets;

The successful candidate WILL be:

• A self-starter with the desire and ability to do what is required to succeed;

• Keen to work predominantly on their own

• Able to converse with clients at all levels of seniority;

• Able to present well with a professional approach;

• A good communicator and negotiator and be able to listen to customers’ requirements

• Good at building relationships – both internally within our client and externally with prospects and clients.

Specific duties and responsibilities are to:

• Promote the Company’s business management software and associated products to the merchant and automotive markets;

• Develop relationships with customers and prospects in person, and via telephone conversations and emails;

• Negotiate with customers and prospects on pricing and terms with the aim of closing sales;

• Answer incoming enquiries from existing and potential customers;

• Ensure leads, opportunities and actions are recorded correctly within the sales order system;

• Provide assistance and help where required to the rest of the sales team and other departments;

• Work on your own initiative, with assistance from others when required to carry out demonstrations of the software both on-site and remotely whilst keeping the demonstration system up-to-date with new features;

• Review current processes regularly and look for efficiencies that could save time;

• Review and gather market and competitor information;

• Meet and exceed sales targets.

Applicants should live north of the M25, in the M1/A1 corridor (within 50 miles of Northampton ideally) and the package will include a fully expensed Company car, a further performance incentive package, a Westfield Health cash plan, and 20 days holiday (increasing to 25 with service).
