A member of staff who worked at Russell Roof Tiles for 44 years recently received a warm retirement send-off.

John Jamieson began working at the roof tile manufacturer in 1974 aged 21. He started off as a lorry driver at the Lochmaben site in Scotland, but developed quickly to undertake positions in Quality Control and Yard Management.

He was then promoted to Stock Control before taking up a role in Production Planning, where he remained until he retired.

The manufacturer has seen a number of employees celebrate significant work milestones over the years. In fact, this year alone, ten employees across the business have received long service awards ranging from 15-30 years.

Production Director Bruce Laidlaw said: “Russell Roof Tiles has always understood the importance of supporting its employees, so they can build a successful career with us.

“John was no exception. Having been a pivotal member of the team for over 40 years, he witnessed significant changes and saw the Lochmaben site grow and expand over the years.

“As a thank you from us, John was presented with a watch, an engraved tankard and holiday vouchers. We wish him the best of luck in his retirement.”
