A toy astronaut carrying a construction bolt has been launched into space.
The bolt carried by the teddy on its 103-mile up to the stars, will be used to build a new ‘Launch Pad’ ticketing hall at the National Space Centre in Leicester. It reached heights of 115,452ft and temperatures of -57.2°C.
Hundreds of schoolchildren and local residents witnessed the UFO (unidentified fuzzy object)’s journey, and you can watch the video here.
The project, headed up by contractor Robert Woodhead Ltd, has received Ultra Site status from the Considerate Constructors Scheme. This is awarded to sites that demonstrate best practice, collaboration and innovation.
Considerate Constructors Scheme Chief Executive Edward Hardy said: “The National Space Centre Ultra Site is an example of the exceptional standards of performance that can be achieved in a very short period of time when everyone works together.
