Jewson is assisting an attempt to break the world record for the most people exercising to a fitness video at once.

The builders’ merchant will be helping people in Lancashire break the record by lending them safety equipment.

Its branch in Kilnhouse Lane, Lytham St Annes, will be supplying high-visibility jackets to event managers, stewards and Guinness world record adjudicators.

Fitter Fylde Coast is being held on 21 July as part of the Lytham Festiva. It is an initiative to get local people exercising to celebrate the NHS’s 70th anniversary.

More than 5,000 people will need to take part in the workout if they are to beat the world record.

Jewson Branch Manager Dan Simmons said: “This is a great idea as we all know people need to look after themselves better than they do.

“I was very keen to help out and I am delighted we have been able to support the event by providing the jackets.”

Dr Tony Naughton, Clinical Chief Officer for NHS Fylde and Wyre Clinical Commissioning Group who lead the campaign, said: “We are very grateful to Jewson for their support. The help of partner organisations and sponsors has not only helped this event become a reality, but also shown the true community spirit across the Fylde coast.”
