Travis Perkins celebrate victory in first ever T20:ProAm
Published:  29 August, 2017

Travis Perkins PLC and their sponsored team, the Travis Perkins Trailblazers are celebrating their tremendous win at the first ever T20:ProAM at Northampton County Cricket Club last weekend.

The T20:ProAm cricket event was a unique opportunity for amateur players to take part alongside professional players and legends from yesteryear.

The Travis Perkins Trailblazers took on Royal Bank of Canada’s Lions in an action packed final, with a packed stand of Travis Perkins employees, fans and the now legendary mascot ‘Travis Bearkins’ cheering the team on. The Trailblazers were lead by England cricketing legend Darren ‘Goughy’ Gough who had coached the team to achieving their glory and ECB Young Coach of the Year in 2015, Matt Earl.

The team, selected from budding local amature club players (including a Travis Perkins Branch Manager, Tony Laws) were also joined by pros, including Northampton’s own Steven Crook and former England bowling legend Simon Jones, not forgetting their wildcard plater - England’s Rugby World Cup winning ace Paul Grayson. Other pros and legends playing on the day included Alex Wakely, Monty Panesar and Devon Malcolm.

Donna Edgell, Travis Perkins’ Internal Communications & Engagement Manager and the Trailblazers’ team manager said: “Here at Travis Perkins we are all about family, team, community and giving people the opportunity to shine. T20 Pro:Am has been a perfect fit for us. So it's a privilege to have been able to give these incredibly talented club players the chance to do what they do so brilliantly on a professional stage - playing with and learning from the professionals of the game, playing under floodlights in front of a cheering crowd including friends and family. I can only imagine how that must have felt. It felt pretty special watching them.”
