John Nicholls opens “Supersite” in Bicester
Published:  01 November, 2016

John Nicholls has strengthened its position in Oxfordshire and Warwickshire by opening its first “Supersite” on Telford Road in Bicester.

As the largest single site within the Nicholls Group, the new premises covers 40,000 sq ft, which includes a large building and plumbing merchant, kitchen and bathroom solutions showroom, warehousing, office space and a large yard area.

The site incorporates all the Nicholls core businesses such as building and timber, plumbing and heating, kitchens and bathrooms and some new business ventures including a range of bedroom, flooring and door displays, direct-to-site delivery options, van-size parking spaces and a partnership with a neighbouring café.

The Supersite was officially opened on 1st October by Andrew Nicholls, chief executive of the Nicholls Group, and Lord Digby Jones of Birmingham Kb, international businessman and cross bench peer in the House of Lords, who cut the ribbon declaring the buildings open for business.

Lord Jones addressed members of the public and local tradespeople about the importance of towns such as Bicester to the economy, as well as the key role that businesses such as Nicholls play in the local community.

Also in attendance were Councillor Lynn Pratt who is Lead Member for Estates and the Economy within Bicester North and Caversfield Ward and Councillor Les Sibley Deputy Mayor.

Mr Nicholls said: “It’s fantastic news to have extended our presence within Bicester and Oxfordshire through the opening of our first Supersite. We have been established in Bicester since 1998 and have first-hand experience of how the town is, and will develop in the coming years. Coupled with our local knowledge and the projected growth of the town, which is already widely acknowledged as one of the fastest growing towns in Europe, our new business location offers a massive opportunity to the Nicholls Group, the people of Bicester and the local economy.

“The sheer scale of our new site allows us to increase the services we offer including electrical, joinery, roofing, renewable technologies and decorating, while also enhancing our core building and timber, plumbing and heating, and kitchen and bathroom businesses to provide the best possible offering to our customers in Bicester and the surrounding villages.”

Throughout the grand opening event visitors were able to speak to leading kitchen and bathroom manufactures, while also browsing the new 5,000 sq ft showroom, and enjoying cooking demonstrations from TV chef Peter Sidwell.

The new showroom offers a free 3-D photorealistic CAD drawing service, free site or home surveys, and a “Kids Zone” to occupy and entertain children while mum and dad browse the display areas.
