Selco Builders Warehouse has opened a new branch in Mitcham - its 25th branch to be opened in the capital, and the 45th for the business across the country.

The new branch – based on the Mitcham Industrial Estate on Streatham Road - cements Selco's presence inside the M25 corridor, with further openings in Wembley and South Croydon planned before the end of this year.

Chris Cunliffe, Selco's chief executive, said: "When we first took Selco into London in 2002 it was a bold move with a huge investment for us to establish the business in the capital.

"We are 14 years on and have just opened our 25th branch in and around London, so we can say that decision has more than paid off.

"Tradespeople in London are fully aware of the Selco offering and the fact that we will always put our customers first. There will be no difference in Mitcham and, after breaking into new areas such as Southampton, Portsmouth and Wolverhampton recently, we are delighted to be bringing our ambitious branch expansion plans back to London."

Mr Cunliffe said the business has plans to open more branches in 2017.

As well as raising more than £350,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support nationally over the last four years, Selco emphasised its commitment to supporting the communities in which it operates by awarding £1,000 to three charities in Mitcham.

The beneficiaries were North East Mitcham Community Association, pensioners' club Young At Heart and First Touch, a charity which supports premature and sick babies.

Selco branches supply a wide range of products including doors, windows, insulation, roofing, heating, plumbing supplies, lighting, electrical products, kitchens, bathrooms and timber.

Branches also offer an in-branch café, trade services, direct-to-site delivery options and van-sized parking spaces.
