Customers of buildings supplies company Kent Blaxill raised £2,136 for Macmillan Cancer Support at a recent charity auction held in Colchester.

A cheque was presented to Macmillan representative Claire Husband by Kent Blaxill’s Colchester branch operations manager Carl Jenner, and other members of staff.

“We chose Macmillan Cancer Support because we have had a number of people touched by it,” said Mr Jenner. “In total, we had 19 items auctioned, with a real bidding frenzy building up for an i-Phone, which eventually went for £499.”

The event was part of Kent Blaxill’s first Summer Showcase evening, which saw the company’s 7-acre site open up to tradespeople and members of the public.

“We had 60 suppliers demonstrating their products, as well as two food stalls,” said Mr Jenner. “It was a very well attended event with a buoyant atmosphere to it.”

The Kent Blaxill Colchester branch will be holding a coffee morning on 30 September to raise further funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.
