Hull-based timber treatment and anti-slip decking provider, WJ Group has won a prestigious Yorkshire business award – Made in Hull.

Made in Hull is hosted by accountancy and tax company, Streets. The awards seek to celebrate the area’s excellence in manufacturing and its well-deserved reputation for innovation and creativity.

Now in its third year, there are six categories that the judges assess, including: sold overseas; sold locally; for many generations and the category that WJ Group won – sold nationwide.

Mark Eggleston, WJ Group’s managing director, said: “We’re absolutely delighted to win this important award, which helps to showcase the significance of the Humber region for UK business and innovation. WJ Group has developed substantially over the last 12 months, both in the development of its timber treatment services and in the growth of DeckWright Anti-Slip – a product that reduces the risk of slipping on timber decking.

This growth has prompted the development of our company structure and operational facilities to ensure that we continue to serve our customers to the best of our ability. It’s exciting times at WJ Group and receiving awards such as Made in Hull gives recognition to the entire team.”

With its head office based in Hull, plus one of its two treatment plants and other manufacturing facilities, WJ Group also operates a timber treatment plant in Rochester, Kent and is optimistic about expansion in the future.
