Russell Roof Tiles has taken a team of budding mountaineers to conquer the two peaks, raising money for both its charities of the year, Shropshire & Staffordshire Blood Bikes and Dumfries & Galloway Blood Bikes.

A team of 20 from the company’s Burton upon Trent site came together with 15 members of staff from Russell Roof Tiles’ site in Lochmaben, to first of all conquer Ben Nevis before tackling Scafell Pike the next day.

Bruce Laidlaw, production director at Russell Roof Tiles, said: “This is our first major fundraising event for our two Blood Bikes charities. It was great to have staff from all of our sites come together for it.

“By the end of the year our aim is to raise even more money to help towards both charities’ on-going needs for new motorbikes, satnavs and high visibility blood bike jackets to help keep them running. It means a world of difference to them both and indeed to us all and our communities to continue this lifesaving work.”

Blood Bikes charities offer emergency volunteer services providing urgent and emergency transportation of life saving medical supplies to NHS Foundations across their respective regions.

The staff at Russell Roof Tiles will continue to raise money for both Blood Bikes charities across the year with activities including a sponsored weight loss, a version of “superstars” with 12 sports, a 20km bike ride, charity cricket, a 1,500m run, golf and football matches.
