Howarth Timber and Building Supplies has strengthened its presence in Doncaster with the acquisition of Maltings Timber Merchants.

Supplying a large range of timber products from sustainable sources, Maltings Timber Merchants has been serving Doncaster for more than 30 years, building a strong reputation for quality and customer service.

Howarth Timber, established in 1840, completed the purchase of Maltings Timber Merchants on 31 March 2016, with the outlet becoming the company’s 30th branch.

The new branch will be led by Chris Noble, who joins Howarth Timber and Building Supplies having amassed more than 17 years’ experience in the industry.

Mr Noble has developed a robust understanding of heavyside building products, with a particular emphasis on facing bricks and brick matching.

Nicholas Howarth, managing director of Howarth Timber and Building Supplies, said: “Maltings Timber Merchants is a successful business with standards and values that match up with those of Howarth Timber.

“The acquisition will allow us to expand the product ranges available to customers, with building supplies added to the already excellent timber offering at the store.

“With the Thorne branch of Howarth Timber located eight miles away on the outskirts of Doncaster, and led by the newly promoted regional manager John Brandon, this new branch enhances our presence in the town and ensures the region’s tradespeople are covered.”

Mr Howarth continued: “Customers can enjoy the same expert advice, quality of products and great service from the superb team employed with Maltings Timber who are now part of the Howarth team.

“The introduction of building materials to the product offering at the branch will also ensure the outlet offers more choice in new areas.”
