The team at Covers in Chichester has raised £302 on behalf of Brain Tumour Research after their senior administrator Dawn Watson was diagnosed with a brain tumour.

After revealing the devastating news to her colleagues last October, Ms Watson underwent a traumatic and complex operation to have the tumour removed and is still undergoing treatment to beat the illness.

Staff at the timber and builders merchants on Quarry Lane, keen to show their support for their colleague in any way they could, decided to undertake fundraising activities on behalf of Brain Tumour Research including taking part in the charity’s Wear a Hat Day.

Decked out in an array of diverse, fun and fabulous hats of all shapes and sizes including sombrebros, boaters and beanies, the team’s efforts helped to raise much needed money that will go towards paying for vital research into tackling all types of brain tumours. Brain Tumour Research is the only national brain tumour charity dedicated to funding scientific research and needs to raise £1 million a year to continue its work.

Henry Green, managing director at Covers, said: “Ms Watson is a highly valued member of the team and we were devastated to learn about her diagnosis. We wanted to do something to support her and her family at this really difficult time. Taking part in Brain Tumour Research’s event felt like a great way to help raise awareness of this awful disease and show her how much she means to the team at Covers. We are delighted to be able to make a donation to such a worthwhile charity.”
