Selco Builders Warehouse has smashed through a major charity landmark by raising over £250,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Staff, customers and suppliers have joined forces to tackle a number of inspirational challenges to raise funds.

And, despite reaching the quarter of a million pound milestone, sights are now set on taking the overall total even higher with a Selco pledge to raise at least £300,000 for its nominated charity by the end of 2016.

Chris Cunliffe, chief executive of Selco Builders Warehouse, said: “To raise £250,000 for one charity has been a monumental effort from all our staff, customers and suppliers, and is something everyone connected with Selco is very proud of.

“Everyone has thrown themselves into supporting the cause and there has been a whole host of events from cake sales, cycle rides, marathons and golf days. We also hold several auctions during the year, where all our supporters have dug deep to help raise as much money as possible.

“The effort and enthusiasm of everyone is fantastic to see and now we are setting our sights on a huge drive to reach, and exceed, the £300,000 target.

“We want to keep up the enthusiasm and we are looking forward to even more fundraising events during 2016.”

Rhys Parker, regional corporate account manager for Macmillan Cancer Support, added: “We are delighted to hear that Selco Builders Warehouse has been so successful in its fundraising and that the £250,000 mark has already been exceeded.

“It is a fantastic sum of money and has gone a long way to ensuring we can provide support and information for people affected by cancer and those closest to them.”
