The Federation of Master Builders (FMB), has appointed Dave Jordan as an area board member, joining from timber and builders merchant Ridgeons.

Mr Jordan, the group sustainability manager at Ridgeons, was approached by the not-for-profit trade body because of his knowledge of the construction industry, the FMB says.

He joins a board of 14 members working across the Eastern region, and will be responsible for giving FMB members a regional voice and influencing the FMB’s policies and activities.

It is claimed by the FMB that the appointment will benefit both Ridgeons and Mr Jordan’s new employers in their joint efforts to increase membership numbers in the region.

FMB member benefits include access to additional marketing tools, in addition to the proof of work quality the body’s independent inspections and vetting offer.

Ridgeons will benefit from increased brand awareness, as well as being part of decision making in the sector, the FMB says.

Mr Jordan said: “I’m looking forward to developing the relationship between Ridgeons and the FMB, as well as helping to drive recruitment in the Eastern counties by promoting the benefits of becoming a member.

“Ridgeons has offered the FMB use of its Greenlight Centre of Excellence and Training Academy to host events and seminars. The 26 Ridgeons branches will also allow FMB members greater access to materials and supplies.”

John Watson, service director of FMB Central, said: “We deeply valued Dave’s previous involvement at the FMB as he worked to help secure new members and maintained our ethos of providing FMB members with up-to-date and relevant information.

“Having a board member from Ridgeons will greatly increase the visibility of the FMB within the Eastern counties, and in turn, help boost recruitment.”
