A-Plant, the tool, plant and equipment hire company, has opened a new Tool Hire Express store on Teal Business Park in Widnes, Cheshire.

One of the key functions of the new Tool Hire Express store is to offer contractors working on the £1.86bn Mersey Gateway Project immediate access to a wide range of tools, small plant and consumables for hire or sale.

In Autumn 2017, a new six-lane toll bridge over the River Mersey will open between Runcorn and Widnes to relieve the traffic over the ageing Silver Jubilee Bridge. Once complete the Mersey Gateway will provide a major new strategic transport route linking the Liverpool city region, North Cheshire and the North West to the rest of the country.

Last year, A-Plant was officially selected as a preferred supplier of equipment to be used for construction work throughout the duration of the Mersey Gateway Project. The company is approved to supply a wide range of equipment to the Merseylink Consortium, including tools, plant, powered access equipment, generators, lifting and safety equipment, and formwork and falsework.

A-Plant’s district director, Andy Thompson, said: “Our new Tool Hire Express store is in a fantastic location in Widnes, not only to serve contractors working on Mersey Gateway, but also for homeowners who are looking to hire or buy DIY equipment.”
