GLASGOW: Dale Bateman, a regional sales manager for Buildbase in Scotland, has beaten off the competition to be awarded the Taylor Trophy, from the Incorporation of Mason’s of Glasgow. The award acknowledges the outstanding training achievements of a merchant member of the Builders' Merchant Federation (BMF).

Mr Bateman was nominated by BMF Scottish regional manager, Katy Carrick. He was presented with his trophy at the BMF Scottish Regional meeting on Friday 13 March, which took place at Perth Race course.

In addition to this presentation, Mr Bateman has been invited to attend the Incorporation of Mason’s Annual Choosing Dinner later this year, where he will also receive £100 cheque, a certificate and a medal for his achievement.

"It is an added bonus to be recognised for my training achievements, the most recent being the Institute of Leadership Management (ILM) Level 5 course," said Mr Bateman.

"I originally set out on the ILM course specifically to gain the management qualification, but it has lead to so much more and proven to be greatly beneficial, particularly in my current role.  I  believe that there are always things to learn, and you can always improve."

Katy Carrick said, “Dale is a worthy winner. Having joined the merchanting industry as a trainee once he finished school, Dale has worked his way up the ranks, constantly furthering his training and development.

"He was also the first merchant member in Scotland to complete the ILM course, developed for senior management and directors, achieving a nationally recognised qualification.  Dale’s commitment to training and personal drive has meant he now has a career that many can aspire to.”
