A fundraising drive by manufacturer Russell Roof Tiles’ sales team will see them aim to lose 12st 7lbs in nine weeks, generating money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

The team of 15, which includes managing director Andrew Hayward, are aiming to raise £600 for the charity, which includes a 50% contribution from Russell Roof Tiles if they each hit their target.

Staff will be recording their weight weekly, and checking in at the office every third week to make sure any weight loss is achieved in a sustainable manner.

The team intend to collectively lose 12st 7lbs, equivalent to approximately 60 of the company’s concrete tiles – enough to cover 1m2 – before a deadline of 3 July.

Mr Hayward said: “It’s great to get the team together to fundraise. We thought burning off those few extra pounds would be a great way to raise money and promote a healthier team, making sure they are fighting fit.

“Macmillan Cancer Support is one of two charities that have been chosen by Russell Roof Tiles for fundraising activities throughout our anniversary year. One in two people in the UK will be diagnosed with cancer at some point in their lives, and many of our staff have been touched by the disease. Macmillan does a lot to help those affected.”
