A motor racing enthusiast has demonstrated the importance of value-added partnerships by using a rebate agreement to fund his racing team, with the support of Burdens.
Phil Reed is owner and manager of East Coast Racing, in addition to his role as owner of East Coast Construction. His racing company champions upcoming motor sport star, Lee ‘the General’ Johnston.
Burdens supplies products and services to the infrastructure, civils and utilities markets.
Graham Price, branch manager of Burdens’ Leeds store, became aware of Mr Reed’s adrenaline-fuelled business sideline as a result of a longstanding partnership with East Coast Construction.
Mr Price said: “Phil’s commitment to East Coast Racing and Lee Johnston in the nurturing of his race career is inspiring.
“When we became aware of all that he does for the sport, in his own time, we were keen to show our support, which is why agreed that part of his rebate agreement could go towards funding Lee Johnston and the team this season.
“It goes to show that when you have a strong partnership in place with Burdens, we are able to offer flexibility as and when the customer may need it.
Mr Reed said: “Motorsport has always been a passion of mine and I have raced both cars and bikes of various forms over the years before starting East Coast Racing.
“Burdens has always been a reliable civils and utilities partner to my main construction business and Graham at the Leeds branch has been extremely supportive of East Coast Racing.
“It was fantastic that from the strength of our partnership they were able to be flexible and allow me to use my rebate agreement and add the Burdens logo on to our kit this year.
“We’ve just celebrated a Superstock race victory at the Vauxhall International North West 200 so we’re hoping it continues to bring us luck!”
