A team made up of staff and customers from Chandlers Building Supplies took part in the Hastings Half Marathon on Sunday 22 March to raise funds for Ehlers-Danlos Support UK.

The charity is of particular importance to the team of runners, as the wife of Paul Hunnisett, bathroom contracts manager at the Lewes branch of Chandlers, has recently been diagnosed with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome – a genetic disorder in which the structure of connective tissue is abnormal. This can result in discomfort in joints, heart palpitations, fragile skin, easy bruising, nausea and dizzy spells.

The Chandlers Hastings Half Marathon team consisted of Mr Hunnisett, Stuart Campbell (Chandlers Lewes branch manager), colleagues Graham Wills, Gary Brinkhurst and Simon Hind, and Chandlers' regular customer Jesse Roberts. The group raised £1,200 in total.

“Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome is not a commonly known condition, but it causes sufferers immense discomfort,” explained Mr Hunnisett. “The charity relies on donations, so I would like to say a big thank you to my colleagues for joining me on the run and to everyone who made a donation – especially Chandlers, who contributed £500. It’s greatly appreciated.”
