The Symphony Group, one of the UK's largest privately-owned fitted furniture manufacturers, has joined the Builders Merchants Federation (BMF).

The business manufactures Milano, Gallery and Signature kitchens, Urbano bedrooms and Aquadi bathrooms, which are widely used by private developers and social housing providers and supplied through over 500 merchant retail outlets across the UK. It also exports globally to over 20 countries.

The £140m turnover company employs over 1,000 people at sites in Barnsley and Rotherham.

Graham Smith, group finance director, Symphony Group, said: "Symphony is known not just for great design and leading the way with new trends, we are also renowned for outstanding customer service. Builders' merchants are a key customer group and playing a full part in the BMF is a natural step for a supplier like Symphony which prides itself on being close to customers and understanding their markets."

John Newcomb, BMF managing director, said: "I'm delighted that Symphony appreciates the value in taking an active role in the BMF. We are the only trade association that brings together and represents the interests of merchants and their suppliers and I am looking forward to working with them."
