NEWTON ABBOT: A West Country firm is bucking the current trend for cuts, having invested £30m in its new factory.

In a time of recession and manufacturing decline, British Ceramic Tile is both investing in classic, pioneering manufacturing and experiencing an upturn in demand for its British designed and produced wall tiles.

Producing tiles designed in-house and by well known names such as Laura Ashley, Sebastian Conran and Wayne Gerardine Hemingway, British Ceramic Tile's investment has enabled the company to grow in order to achieve its goals of being a leading supplier in the UK market, but also building on opportunities for overseas orders.

The £30m investment in the new factory facility enables the company to meet increased demand by more than doubling its production capacity to 30 000 sqm of tiles per day. The new factory is a staggering 1/3 of a mile long and houses the latest technological and process developments to set new standards in material, process and energy efficiency, meeting 100% recycling targets in many aspects of the business.
