Selco’s York branch has partnered with League 1 rugby club York City Knights.

Selco promotes its products at the Knights’ matches, and in return lends the team equipment including a generator to pump up their inflatable mascots. The partnership also provides social media exposure for both parties.

The builders’ merchant attended a recent Knights match against Workington, throwing Selco branded t-shirts into the crowd. The Knights won the match 40-8.

The branch on Osbaldwick Link Road was Selco’s 60th branch. It opened in February, creating 50 new jobs.

Chris Lowry, Selco York’s Branch Manager, said: “We are delighted to have linked up with York City Knights during our first year operating in the city. There is a lot of interest in the club in York and plenty of our customers attend matches.

“One of the big commitments we have at Selco is to support the communities in which we operate and there is no better way of us doing that in York than through the Knights.”

Knights owner Jon Flatman said: “The Selco partnership is a really pleasing one for us.

“It is a forward-thinking company with coverage right across the UK which has grown hugely over the last five years and continues to do so.

“To have a link with such an established company is a major boost for everyone at the Knights.”
